Following up on the enduring appeal of the 47-mm versions, Jacob & Co. created a 44-mm Epic X Chrono. This alternative case size opens up the Epic X Chrono to a new crowd, seduced by Jacob & Co.'s unique design features in a universally wearable, definitely unisex format. The inspiration of the design came from the letter X, which symbolizes something unknown, mysterious and appealing, reflecting the energy of the brand at the time. Epic X Chrono 44MM is the high function of Epic X with an extra dose of elegance. A natural step in the complication and design direction, Epic X Chrono 44MM retains all the core elements of its namesake collection and takes them all one level higher—a level that the chronograph perfectly represents. The crown guards, the pusher protectors, the X shape that runs from the lugs through the dial and the skeleton parts all embody the transformation of Epic X into a sports chronograph with a sense of material exclusivity and a refined state of mind. The case is engineered to shield every protruding part. The crown and pushers are inserted into pieces that extend from the case's round shape, while both pusher guards are echoed on the other side of the case for perfect symmetry. This ruggedness is further enhanced by the case's water resistance to 200 meters. Epic X Chrono 44MM requires a movement that brings all the energy of Epic X and takes it up one notch. Caliber JCAA05 is all a chronograph can be: functional, luxurious, refined and finely finished. It bears the signature design elements of Jacob & Co. and of the Epic X collection. Caliber JCAA05 is a self-winding chronograph with two registers, a configuration called bi-compax. The classic movement architecture, with horizontal clutch, column wheel and two pushers, is interpreted in a sporty fashion. A practical sports chronograph is a self-winding chronograph, and Caliber JCAA05 is fitted with a rotor that automatically winds its power source. Its signature shape is directly inspired by the X that makes Epic X and is visible to the naked eye through the see-through caseback. The pusher at 2 o'clock starts and stops the timing function. This sequence can be activated at will, with no necessary end. Elapsed time is shown with the central seconds hand and the 30-minute register at 3 o'clock on the dial.
