Omega made headlines in 2013 when it unveiled this new Aqua Terra, the fruits of many years of research into magnet science for horology. This is the first watch in history that can accurately be said to be completely anti-magnetic, finally resolving a problem with which watchmakers have grappled for centuries. Instead of using the established method of Faraday cages to protect the movement, Omega completely overhauled the design of the movement itself, building it from scratch out of non-ferrous materials that are unaffected by magnetic fields. In this way, the watch is resistant to fields of more than 15,000 gauss (1.5 tesla). It also features a striking aesthetic design with green highlights that compliments the scientific achievement that it represents.
